Baking celebratory treats for family and friends is a great pleasure. I really cant think of a
better way to express my joy for someone than spending time in the kitchen,
toiling over special gourmet treats with them in mind.
Susan who is a long time family friend has also been a tremendously kind supporter of gateaux rose, so I was more than happy to help her celebrate the special day. We decided on a sweet country buttermilk cake with a tangelo mousseline filling and dark chocolate ganache frosting. Lucky for me I made an absurd amount of orange curd to fill, so I've been treating myself to tangelo curd on toast,
tangelo curd on muffins, and tangelo curd in a bowl.
While delivering this cake with my mother, she quickly pointed out that it looks like a hat. I suppose then it's possible that I was thinking about big chocolate hats while working on this one..
Susan is very fashionable you know.
