Snow! Wind! Rain! Cupcakes? Whoopie!

The forecast for the weekend of the 8th predicted a lot of snow, so we decided to create a wintry table spread, with cheerful cupcakes and whoopie pies to beat the January blues. The pies looked so pretty on their pastel papers. These little treats are a cross between a cake and cookie. They keep a little longer than a cupcake and the filling is on the inside which makes them easy to transport as well. Maple whoopie pies filled with rich chocolate ganache, and glazed with dark maple syrup icing. Each one is topped with a teeny pink heart.

Peppermint patty whoopie pies : Dark chocolate with mint marshmallow frosting and peppermint glaze. Decorated with a sprinkle of candy cane and teeny little red hearts.

 We had a snowy winter wear themed cupcakes that weekend, since it was blustery outside. The little cakes were decorated with miniature toques, boots, scarves and paper snowflake decorations on toothpicks.

 We had a lot of requests for a cupcake based on a peanut butter cup, so that weekend we brought some peanut butter cupcakes. These were old fashioned chocolate cake and a generous amount of peanut butter frosting. They were decorated with tiny winter boots. (The men in our lives really enjoyed this flavour in particular.)

We also brought another special frosting; sweetened marscapone.

We couldn't resist throwing a few hearts in the mix as well. We love rich chocolate paired with real vanilla bean mousseline buttercream. The cupcakes above are decorated with pink paper heart picks, a cute and delicious way to show someone you care.
