4" Chocolate and Strawberry Cakelet

Here's a tiny treat to hold you over while the easter bunny and I work up some magic in the kitchen this afternoon. 

This was a simple request for a 4" chocolate cake with a strawberry compote filling and a strawberry mousseline frosting. 

A teeny weeny cake that received the full sized decorating treatment. 

CAKE POPS!

For those who like to follow sugary global trends, you might be happy to hear that I've been thinking a lot about cake pops. Freshly baked cake, mixed with your favourite icing, rolled into little balls and then dipped in chocolate. *omnomnom*

 Spearheaded by the super talented Bakerella, cake pops are the perfect at home project, and I encourage you to give them a try!! 

I gave them a shot over the weekend, and took a few snaps afterwards..

These chocolate espresso cupcakes sure do make my wings flap! With a little pocket of creamy dark chocolate ganache in the center, and topped with creamy chocolate espresso frosting, these perky treats are the perfect pick me up.
